SHIPPER

POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of shipping activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Print and review list of materials scheduled for shipping on a daily basis.
  2. Construct boxes and utilize pick lists to gather necessary items from the warehouse.
  3. Package orders for shipment ensuring packaging is professional in appearance and packaged properly to ensure safe arrival to customer; complete checklist verifying that all items are included in shipment.
  4. Disperse packages to the proper shipping channel including DHL, UPS, FedEx and ground and/or freight carriers.
  5. Utilize the arranged shipping or logistics methods and employ the most cost effective channel if unspecified.
  6. Update systems with accurate shipping information including shipping company, ship date, cost and tracking numbers.
  7. Utilize and update proprietary operational system and related spreadsheets.
  8. Kit materials and affix the proper shipping labels.
  9. Perform administrative functions related to the processing and shipping of product which may include reports, data entry, scanning, transmittals, correspondence, photocopies, communication, filing, organization and/or resolution of shipment or customer service issues.
  10. Place pallets in staging area for shipping or load truck as needed.
  11. Communicate effectively with other departments including sales coordination, deployment and accounting.
  12. Maintain neat, orderly and safe working environment.
  13. Serve as back up to receiving, inventory and the general warehouse as needed

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience may be substituted for part of educational qualifications as appropriate.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3 years’ prior experience working in shipping or receiving environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with shipping/logistics preferred.
  • Knowledge of FedEx and/or UPS shipping systems, domestic and international shipping requirements and procedures preferred.
  • Effective planning, organizational and detail-oriented skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust workload accordingly.
  • Experience in operation of forklift and other material handing devices; forklift certification preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer.
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products and databases. Experience with MS Dynamics – Solomon preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information (both in written and oral form) clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
